Weiguang Textile shares with you: Winter Cotton Quilt Care Guide for Lasting Warmth
As the cold wave arrives, a fluffy and soft cotton quilt is the most reliable and comforting warmth in the bedroom. But do you know? If not properly cared for, winter quilts can become hard and lumpy, lose their warmth, and even accumulate dirt, affecting sleep health.
Follow these steps to keep your quilt warm all winter long!
Regularly air-dry to remove moisture and mites
Winter sunshine is gentle, making it the perfect time to air out your blankets.
Choose the period from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on a sunny day, spread the quilt flat on the clothesline, avoid direct sunlight, and hang it for 2-3 hours each time.
After sunning, gently pat the quilt cover to help restore the fluffiness of the cotton fibers and remove dust and mite carcasses.
Note: Down quilts and silk quilts should not be exposed to direct sunlight. They can be air-dried in a well-ventilated area to avoid damaging the fibers.
Daily storage, free from crushing and deformation
The way you store an uncovered quilt determines its "lifespan.".
Pure cotton blankets can be folded and stored in breathable cotton bags; avoid using vacuum-sealed bags to prevent the cotton fibers from losing elasticity.
Store away from damp corners of the wardrobe, and place a few mothballs or desiccants to prevent mold and moisture damage.
Avoid placing heavy objects on the cotton quilt to prevent clumping from prolonged compression.
Partial cleaning to minimize water washing damage
Cotton quilts should not be washed frequently, as this can cause them to clump or harden.
If only minor stains are present, use a damp cloth dipped in a small amount of neutral detergent to gently wipe the stained area, then blot the moisture with a dry cloth and let it air dry in a well-ventilated place.
The cover of a pure cotton quilt can be removed and washed regularly. It is recommended to use mild detergent and avoid bleach.
